Event Details

This is the first PIF Improv Conference - bringing together improvisors from all over the country to share knowledge and experience about the entire world of improv. From performance to running a theatre, the tracks offer perspectives from all angles.

Thoughts on Coaching (Space 55 - Cafe)

Enhance your improv coaching and directing skills with these presentations on working better with an ensemble, communicating effectively and nurturing troupes to work more efficiently together.

Expand your performer´s toolkit with specialized skills outside of traditional performance. These workshops will teach you to integrate tools from other artistic mediums into your performances

Business Models (Holiday Inn Express)

Learn how to run a successful improv venue. Presentations from theatres across the nation will share ideas on working in an artistic community while also running a business. This section of the conference will conclude with an open discussion on building a more connected national improv presence.

Ensemble Workshops (The Torch Theatre)

Receive personalized ensemble coaching from professional coaches. These special workshops have been set up to provide a coaching session for your ensemble. Many of the nation´s leading coaches have agreed to work with younger ensembles without regular coaching to provide some ideas to fine tune your group.

You must register as a group to sign up for an ensemble workshop. These are coaching sessions for troupes and teams with these folks. Feel free to contact us to arrange one of the available sessions! If your troupe is listed, a representative has contacted us and there have been arrangements for registration made. Please contact your director/manager/person in charge type for more information!

Phoenix Improv Festival

Since 2002, PIF has focused on bringing together both local and national improv communities on one stage in Phoenix, Arizona. PIF showcases improvisational comedy troupes from the best improv theatres in Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Chicago, Austin and our very own talent from here in Phoenix. The Phoenix Improv Festival is a two day event, packed with shows, workshops and fun for audience and performers alike. Even if you've never seen improv, this is a great place to try it out!
